The First AGM

Last weekend our fledgling Guild had it’s first AGM; held in the Chapel at Whaley Hall. The Chapel has an exquisite stained glass window and the sun streamed through, in and between the snow flurries.

A good number of hardy members managed to battle through the weather which, quite frankly, was atrocious; a note to anyone setting up a group in the High Peak – wait until the risk of snow passes before arranging your AGM, perhaps June?

The meeting was brought forward from 2 to 11 so we could all get home before it got dark and even icier.

The outgoing steering committee, who helped to set up the Guild, were heartily thanked for their time and efforts over the past 9 months. Reports from the Chair, Treasurer, Programme Secretary and Secretary were read out and approved.

The new committee were appointed, the various proposals discussed and voted on, and we tucked into an impromptu bring-a-dish feast. A little more spinning and knitting was accomplished whilst we digested, then we headed off out into the blizzard.

Over the next few weeks we’ll introduce the new committee and show you what the Guild’s been up to and what we are planning for the next few months.
